I adore the stylist from Mad Men's picks for Joan, very va-va-voom.
Here is my salute to the 1950's/early 1960's. I was looking for a date night dress and stumbled upon this Calvin Klein number at Saks. Shoot, all I need is a cigarette (smoking kills, y'all) and a martini and I am in 1960.
This is what it looks like in a slightly different color online. My version of the dress has more oranges and reds in it.
The coat is a lightweight tangerine silk one I got last spring from Banana Republic last spring. I am one of those weird people who can look okay in bizarre colors like bright green and orange and yellow.
The reveal...
The two things I love most about this dress are the neckline (love the girls in this!) and that it has wide straps. Wide straps = normal bra! The more I look at this dress, the more it looks very Junior League/"ladies who lunch". If I had a big hat, I could wear it to
Question for the peanut gallery: Shoes? These are the only shoes that I could think to pair with the dress. I definitely think it calls for a high heeled peep toe, but I am not sure if black works or not. What do you think?

hell yes to the girls;) amen to the wide straps=normal bra! a you're so lucky with the bright color thing and yes to black peep toes--especially if wearing it with that tangerine goodness:) Hope the martini that follows has extra olives! oh, I'm sorry, that would be me placing my order!
love it! about to start the first season of mad men - just arrived via netflix. have fun on date night!
Look for the green in the dress in a shoe, jewel tone green.
You look fabulous! I liked the dress in the store photos, but it looks super fantastic on you!
Oh that dress! That dress. I love it. It's perfect on you, especially with the coat.
I like the black pumps, they make a good transition for fall. Anything brightly colored would be too summery, I'd fear.
I agree w/Chloe. You're good with black pumps. Keeps the focus on the dress. And you look super good in it, too.
