Kid-speak

Since we are going through a bit of a language explosion, I figured I would convey some of the newest phrases that the Kid has uttered. She has a little trouble with the consonants "k" and hard "g"s and hard "c"s, which only adds to the hilarity.

(BTW: anyone concerned about their toddler's pronunciation should read this article.)

  • "A-B-C-D-E-F-G" = "apple-apple-bee-yo-bite" (not sure how that came about, but we think it's hilarious)
  • "cookie" = "two-teeth"
  • "jacket" = "ya-teeth"
  • "Amelia" = "Yaya" (apparently they call each other 'yaya' at day care and have formed their own toddler gang, clad in leather jackets and brass knuckles)
  • "water" = "water" (only you need to pronounce it with a Philly or New Jersey accent)
I will say that sometimes her pronunciation makes me want to get all Professor Higgins on her tiny hiney.

"The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plains."
