Had a much needed day off yesterday and now I am back and rejuvenated. Big plans for the upcoming few months...
- Couch 2 5K - I have been totally slacking in this regard (more or less since July 4th weekend when my girls were in town), so I am entering the Dunkin Donuts 5K. A girl's gotta have some sort of motivation.
- Cooking Weekend Extravaganzapallooza 2009 (the name needs work) - with one of my Pittsburgh buddies, the Spice Rack. Basically an excuse to cook, eat and drink wine for 3 days straight while trying to keep the toddlers corralled sans husbands.
- Family trip to the wilds of Kentucky - cue the theme song to Deliverance...
I am giving away TWO Barefoot Contessa Back to Basics cookbooks. I have a little obsession with her books and I will read them like a novel (falling asleep to parting instructions, "serve warm with ice cream"...). This book has a bunch of recipes ideal for the upcoming fall/winter weather.

Love Ina Garten, and I'm jealous of your cooking extravaganzapalooza :)
I love a warm bowl of gumbo during the cooler weather. :) Oh and of course, warm pumpkin pie for dessert!
I've been wanting to buy this one!
Great giveaway! I love chili with cornbread on the side when it gets cool.
I love your blog give aways! Fun
I love your blog updates. You always make me smile (and sometimes giggle! :P)
Mmm I love watching football with some warm taco dip and chips. Can't wait! Love the blog!
I love Ina Garten! I am going to become a follower right now. I just stumbled across your blog.
Oh... I want to win! Love Ina Garten!
I'm so jealous of your extravaganzapalooza... If I offer baby sitting services while you cook does that mean I can eat? :)
Just one fav thing to eat when the weather gets cold?? impossible!
I love warm banana bread in the morning, texas chili and cornbread, homemade hot chocolate (recipe compliments of barefoot)... there's so much more, food tastes so much better eaten in the crisp fall air.
I am not a follower, but I have to warn you my stalking is going to transfer to Mrs Spice Rack... as soon as I see her packing I am crawling into her trunk. So look out, here I come! (have fun, I am jealous)
Awesome! I would love to win it!!
chili and soup are my cool weather favorites, usually served with crusty bread :)
I love to make chicken & dumplings when it gets cooler!
Love Ina, I've got some of her other books but not that one!
And fall is a perfect time for warm apple crisp with ice cream. :)
I love to eat chicken soup and pretty much any recipe that includes pumpkin. :)
It depends on my mood...chicken and dumplings are always good but if I want something more spicy, I love jambayala! (however you spell that ; )
Looks like a great cookbook! I love to eat homemade chili :)
Great blog!! I crave anything warm when the weather turns colder..but lately I've been so excited to make my first batch of chili...and a pork tenderloin with apple chutney!! yum!! oh - and how could I forget an apple pie - fall is my favorite time of the year to cook!! can't wait!!
My new favorite is PHO soup...which I learned to make from my momma! It's great in the restaurants, but I feel like I make it so much better and the best part is that for our family, it lasts for days...can't wait for the weather to get cooler so I can start making it again!
I watched Ina for hours on Monday. She was making breakfast on the grill.
I am also jealous of your cooking extravaganza with Spice Rack. My husband is probably even more jealous since I made two recipes from her blog and he told me that he should have married her for her cooking skills.
My favorite cold weather meal is homemade chicken pot pie and homade chicken noodle soup.
I'm so happy that I stumbled on your blog. I love Ina and your weekend of cooking sounds fabulous.
Such a fabulous giveaway, I, too, love Ina and have been wanting to get my hands on this book.
My favorite cold-weather food is anything involving root vegetables.
Oh how I love me some Barefoot Contessa! :)
I'm a fan of hot chocolate in the winter... just that powder stuff you mix with milk. Most of those typical winter/fall foods I cook all year round, but I keep my hot chocolate consumption (mostly) to the winter months.
Yay...I figured out how to follow! I love hot chocolate with marshmallow creme, potato soup, apple dumplings and anything pumpkin in the fall months!
I love to make meatloaf (my mother's recipe, the only kind I eat) in the fall. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside! :)
I love my mom's homemade soup, or a nice big pot of chicken and dumplings.
Ina Garten's recipes are so yummy! One of my easy fall favorites is roast butternut squash with apple maple chicken sausage. See below!
6 cups 3/4-inch cubes peeled butternut squash (about 1 1/2 pounds)
1 pound purchased fully cooked sausages (such as chicken and apple), cut into 1 1/2-inch pieces
8 garlic cloves
3 tablespoons flavored olive oil (such as roasted pepper or herb) or regular olive oil
1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary
1 tablespoon chopped fresh sage
1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme
Preheat oven to 450°F. Combine squash and next 6 ingredients in large roasting pan. Toss to coat. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Roast until squash is tender and sausage is warmed through, stirring once, about 30 minutes.
Apple Pie (with a top crust). Warm Apple Crisp with vanilla ice cream. Chicken pot pie like my mom makes. Hot chocolate with whipped cream. Fall is sounding oh soooo good!
I just started cooking and I am excited to learn everything I can.
