BFing and drugs
Pregnancy is easy when it comes to what medications you can take. Tylenol. That's it (just kidding). Breastfeeding can be a little harder because it is often hard to measure breast milk concentrations of drugs accurately. But in general, pediatricians figure that if it can be given to a baby, it is probably okay to give while breastfeeding. Kellymom.com has a decent article on what meds are safe while BFing. The L1 and L2 drugs are the safer ones to take. Propanolol is one of the safer antihypertensives to take. Want some entertainment? Drink a Starbucks triple espresso mocha and then breastfeed your kid. Yeah, I learned that one the hard way. The baby was hopped up on caffeine for an hour...
